Create an inspired LittleBigPlanet™ level with a team of 2 or 3 of your friends, or on your own for a chance to win a PSP® PlayStation Portable device and game! This is your chance to prove yourself as Little Big Planet’s best level creators!

Contest Details

To participate in the Game Changers competition you must submit both a movie of your team’s level to YouTube and publish your team’s Level using the in game publish feature.

Your YouTube Level movie submission should be named, starting with “LBP Game Changers - Rank X - <insert level name here>” and must include the following information in the description:

Judging Criteria

  • Is the goal of the level clear?
  • Does the challenge increase throughout the level?
  • Are players rewarded for completing challenges?
  • Is the level fully textured?
  • Does the level use stickering, audio, lighting, object creation in an interesting way?
  • Does the level require players to think and act as a team?

Official Rules

The Kids Competition begins at 5:00 PM PST on May 3, 2010, and closes at 5:00 PM PST on August 31, 2010.

I. To Enter

Step 1: Create an original LittleBigPlanet Level (“Level”). Entry may be a 3,4 or 5 rank - where the rank of the level refers to its difficulty, the higher the rank, the more difficult the level.

Step 2: You must name your Level using this format. “LBP Game Changers - Rank X - <insert level name here>” where “X” is the rank of your designed level.

Step 3: Publish your Level to the LittleBigPlanet online server.

Step 4: To participate in the Game Changers competition you must submit both a movie of your team’s level to YouTube and publish your or your team’s level to the LBP server (see Step 5 below).

Your YouTube Level movie submission should be tagged with “LBP Game Changers - Rank X - <insert level name here>”, and must include the following information in the description:

Submission materials must also be completed at www.dmlcompetition.net. Include your PlayStation Network ID along with the name of your Level in your submission.

Step 5: You may publish your Level at any time up until 5:00 PM PST August 31, 2010.

** Note: Community Voting begins as soon as you publish your Level. Balance your entry by weighing the quality of the Level vs. time for community members to play and vote for your Level.

Step 6: Your Level will be judged based on “Creativity” and “Playability” by the LittleBigPlanet panel of experts.

II. Winner Selection

15 Levels will be selected among all qualifying entries received by 5:00 PM PST on August 31, 2010. Winners will be determined by the online gaming community.

Qualifying Finalists will be judged by the LittleBigPlanet panel of experts. Winners will be selected based on “Creativity” and “Playability”. Winners will be published at www.dmlcompetition.net and will be notified by email.

III. Prizes

Winning levels will receive a PSP-3000 system. No cash or other alternative will be offered in whole or in part. Prizes are non-transferable and no substitutions are allowed.

IV. Odds of Winning

The odds of winning depend on number of valid entries received.

V. Eligibility

Open to anyone under the age of 18. Return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. Employees of the Sponsors and their respective parents, subsidiaries, agencies, and affiliates and each of their related companies and their immediate families are not eligible. Neither the Sponsors nor their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, agencies, divisions nor related companies are responsible for any damages, taxes, or expenses that winners might incur as a result of this contest or receipt of the prize.

VI. Rules

Levels must be received no later than 5:00 PM PST on August 31, 2010 (“Closing Date”). Limit: one entry per person and valid PlayStation Network ID for the duration of the Challenge. All entries will be considered made by the authorized account holder of the email address used to create the PlayStation Network ID. Subsequent entries will be disqualified.

HASTAC Duke and the University of California, Irvine/University of California Humanities Research Institute (the “Sponsor”) is not responsible for lost, late, mutilated, illegible, incomplete or misdirected entries. Sponsors are not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions which may limit an entrant’s ability to participate in the Competition. Sponsors reserve the right in its sole discretion to modify, cancel or suspend this contest should virus, bugs or other causes beyond the Sponsors’ control corrupt the administration, security or proper play of this contest. Sponsors reserve the right to reject any entries that they deem, in their sole discretion, to be inappropriate including, but not limited to, any entries that contain gratuitous depictions of violence or sexual behavior, or depictions of alcohol or tobacco. The entry must be the original, unpublished and sole work of the entrant. The entry cannot defame or invade the rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any third party personal or proprietary rights. If the Contest is cancelled for any reason, winners will be selected from among all entries received prior to cancellation and all prizes will be awarded based upon their status at the close of the Competition. Entries not satisfying these Official Rules or otherwise violating the LittleBigPlanet End User License Agreement will be automatically disqualified.

By submitting an entry, you warrant that the entry you submit is all your own work, original and unpublished and that any materials or information used by you in creating your entry do not and will not infringe the intellectual property, moral or other rights of any third party and you agree to indemnify the Sponsor from and against all claims, demands, costs, losses, expenses and damages arising in respect of any third party intellectual property infringement. You further warrant that you have not entered into (and shall not enter into) any agreement or arrangement and have not done (and shall not do) any act or thing which shall (or might) inhibit, restrict or impair the free and unrestricted use and exploitation of the intellectual property rights in the entry.

On submission, entries and all materials created, developed or produced by the Entrant shall be governed by the terms and conditions of the LittleBigPlanet End User License Agreement. The Entrant also waives all moral rights in relation to their entry to which the Entrant may now or at any future time be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended form time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world. Entrants agree to take all such action and sign all such documentation as may be necessary to give effect to this paragraph.

VII. Winner's Name

Winners will be published at www.dmlcompetition.net and will be notified by email.

VIII. Restrictions

Void where prohibited or restricted by law. No entries allowed from family members of SONY Corporation or University of California Humanities Research Institue or HASTAC Duke emplyees.

IX. No purchase necessary. Making a purchae will not improve chances of winning. Void outside the 50 United States and D.C. and where prohibited. Entrants must have a PLAYSTATION®3 system, copy of the LittleBigPlanet game, a valid PlayStation Network ID and an internet connection.

X. Sponsor
